CMGS and ACC merger updates

16/12/2011 - Update provided by Nicola Williams, CMGS secretary
As many of you will be aware the CMGS balloted its membership earlier
this year to dissolve the society. Of those members who cast their
vote, more than 96% voted in favour of dissolution, exceeding the 66%
majority as required as detailed in the CMGS constitution. The CMGS is
now working with the Charities Commission to move towards dissolution.

Furthermore, the Officers of ACC Council and the CMGS Executive
Committee are continuing to meet to discuss dissolution and formation of
a new society. In order for the new society to be formed, we are
required to choose a name which will enable registration of the new
body. We want to involve ACC and CMGS members as much as possible in
this process and are now asking members to submit suggestions for the
new name of the society to me by email, before 31st January 2012. All
suggested names will be put to the officers of the ACC Council and the
CMGS Executive Committee for consideration.

Shortly we will be looking for nominations for the Chair of the new
body. David Baty (Chair of the CMGS) and Angela Douglas (Chair of the
ACC) are working together to compile a job description for this role,
which will be circulated to all interested members. Once we have
nominated candidates for this role, the entire membership of the ACC and
CMGS will be asked to cast their vote for the position of Chair.
